Mountain Living

We have been talking about living in the mountains for probably longer than we've known each other. Over the years, we have checked property listings and driven up and down the canyons on the way home from other activities (climbing) to see what is out there...thinking "someday...".

It turns out that Brian also drove up and down the canyons when he had down time at work. He came across this gem on Magnolia Drive shortly after we returned from Alaska. The wheels were quickly set in motion and before I knew it, we were under contract, meeting with our architect and talking with the county about what we wanted to build.

We purchased a 2.54 acre lot on Magnolia Drive. It is about 12 miles west of Boulder and is partially bordered by 40 acres of National Forest. Its elevation is about 8200 feet. My commute to Boulder should increase by about 5 minutes but change from bumper to bumper traffic on US36 to a steep, quiet mountain road which turns to dirt 2 miles before our house

Thank you to Paul and Betsy, Brian's folks, for their generosity and help in making this dream of ours a reality. We really appreciate it!

Our house will be very approximately on the left hand side of this picture:This will be what you see standing on the back deck:
