Radiant Heat

Our main heating system in the house is Solar Thermal Radiant Heat (the other is a wood burning fireplace). Essentially, solar panels on our roof will heat water that runs through pipes in our floors creating heat for the house and toasty floors to walk on! Brian has been putting in long hours getting it up and running!

While I was in Ohio, Brian, Steve, Dennis and Andrea worked to get the tubing laid for the floors.
This is a picture of the sleepers. They are 2x4s which you can use to nail in flooring. In a room that would have hardwood (and nails everywhere, they are laid throughout the room.)
This is one of the upstairs bedrooms. The sleepers in this room are at the edges because it will be carpeted. Andrea helping out!Upstairs bedroom.Once the tubing is down, a mixture of concrete and sand is poured around it to act as a thermal mass. These are the concrete guys mixing it up.
