This is Brian aiming the nail gun at me. We have different ideas of motivation, I guess.
Deep in thought. Brian continues to amaze me with his depth of knowledge about building. 
This photo tells all. The deck was not actually built around a piece of granite in the ground. Brian came up with the idea to have a "built-in" firepit and to make it out of a piece of granite from our property. We found this one and he was able to move it with our friend's skid steer. This was another idea that I was admittedly skeptical of at first, but it looks great and proved feasible. I love that guy!
