Welcome to the desert, Boy!

Ahhh...it's springtime and that means desert season!  It has been a year since Brian and I were in the Moab area.  That's pretty much unheard of - we typically go at least a few times in the fall and spring.  It was nice to get out there and I was excited to introduce Logan to an area that is so special to Brian and me.  As Brian once wrote (I'm paraphrasing from my memory here), I hope there are still wild places for you to explore, Son.

In classic style, we left home Friday night and rolled into camp about 12:30am.  Phew!  That drive is getting longer and longer every year.  It rained Friday night but we got some sleep.  Of course, cute little Logan wakes up at the same time regardless of bedtime.  We tried to play quietly while Dad slept in.  It was too cold to go exploring quite yet.

While we were "playing quietly" (ha!), Logan kept saying, "Da, da, da, da".  It was like he was trying to talk to Dad - wake up, wake up!!

We were camping with our friends, Steve and Andrea.  They brought their dog, Daisy, which was great for Eden to have a friend to play with.  There was no one else in the area, so they got to romp off leash and have a grand ole time.

Even the best laid plans... The weather was uncooperative.  It rained and blowed and snowed (mostly rain and wind, though) pretty much all day.  We sat in the back of the truck snuggled in sleeping bags playing cards and eating food.  I think we got a fifteen minute walk in during a break in the weather.

Logan hanging out in the pack'n'play so the dogs can run around without trampling the little guy.  It was a beautiful campsite.  And, especially nice that we were not sharing it with others.

Sunday morning showed some blue sky and promise for a nice day.  It was still pretty chilly, but warm enough to climb some.

Logan is proving to be pretty adaptable.  hooray!  Here he is taking a nap, nestled in a collection of rocks that provided protection from the wind and sun.

Eden did such a great job this weekend.  Here she is resting in the desert veg.  It was nice to see her enjoying herself as she ran around free.  

I love, love, love the desert.  It is so rejuvenating, even when we can only blast out there Friday night-Sunday night.  It is well worth the effort.  Logan did a great job and he seemed to have fun exploring a new landscape.  We're looking forward to our next adventure...whatever that may be.
